The character index was created by the Gunroom - an
internet mailing list devoted to discussing the novels of
Patrick O'Brian. This site is maintained by Steve and David
but the real work is a labor of love by the Gunroom members.
The purpose of the index is to provide a way of hunting down those
pesky questions like "In which book was the sloth
debauched?"
